Whoopsie, forgot to write in my blog at all yesterday. My apologies, I spent so much of the day chatting and playing games and hanging out with friends I just let it slip my mind.
It's been such an awesome holiday season and it's really over now. Everyone is back from vacation, traffic is annoying again, people are nice in traffic again, the stores are moving slow. The holidays have their ups and their downs, it's a change from the rest of the year, and for the portions of it that you spend in the right mood, they're a really great time to be with family and wonder what to say to them. I don't have anything in common with any of my family, and so I always feel a little awkward around them. It's like I love 'em and I like being around them, but when I'm around them, the time feels a little empty.
I have some common ground now with my stepdad... cooking. That was great for this season. Maybe thanksgiving is long gone, but I'm thankful that my family is sort of whole again. In a way that's upside down from the past five or six years, but it's so upside down that it's really right side up.
Chris is going away on tuesday. He's one of my oldest and closest friends and I'm gonna miss him a ton. We've been friends ever since the bus and computer science class in junior year of high school. I can't remember how old I was but I remember so many other things. Like how he used to call me Dave. how his family sometimes still calls me Dave. I've never been comfortable being called Dave, all my closest friends have called me David.
God willing, he wont just fade out of my life as a friend. I still have a really strong friendship with Jason and he lives in New York. So I know it's possible.
So far the book Jake loaned me, "Rogue Warrior" is very awesome. I've been going through it pretty slowly... so many games to play that have been dragging me down, but I'm getting through it and loving it. It's the best action novel I've ever read. It would make a lousy movie though, being an autobiography in all.
Tonight, for dinner I will have either hot dogs or fish schtick sandwich. And apple pie ice cream for desert.
