Happiness is Good Health and a Bad Memory

"Never let your sense of morals get in the way of doing what's right." - Isaac Asimov

Saw Captain America last night. Haven't seen or read or watched anything Captain America since I was like.. 4. So it never occurred to me that Captain America is a bad idea, or that even though Captain America himself may be a wonderful person, he represents terrible concepts and undermines the Allies side in the war of ideas that was World War II.

In real life we fought a war to the end against a series of nations over the idea of the creation of a superman. The idea that darwinism should prevail in every aspect of how we run our society, the elimination of the old, and the weak, and the sick, and the unintelligent is wrong, and we fought a war that ended with the use of the atomic bomb as a weapon to stop that from being the way the world was run. And Captain America represents the idea that we couldn't win the war against that idea without adopting their philosophy. That the only way to stop them was with their own superman. That premise tastes bitter on my lips.

The movie was enjoyable, and the trailer after the credits was really cool looking, too. That thought just bothers me.
